Join our friendly scientists every two months for a new experience in the CIBA lab. Lab units change every other month and include six different hands-on experiments as well as a few demonstrations that are sure to pique your interest.
The CIBA lab offers a unique view of science, whether you are part of the demonstrations or observing from the amphitheater-style seating. There is always something new going on at the CIBA lab, so come see us soon!
Ciba Lab Resources and Information
Each month we learn a little more about some of the fantastic resources available to us. Below you will find links to a number of those places that enhance what we do in the Ciba Lab.
Vernier sells an exhaustive line of measuring and data collection equipment. Much of this equipment can be used with a PC or a graphing calculator. If you need to measure or quantify something, be it gas pressure, temperature, or even dissolved oxygen, this is a great source for equipment.
Science Daily This is a great resource for the most up to date science news. The website is updated multiple times throughout the day. Science stories on this site are usually posted 1-2 days before they even hit the national news. There is also a great archive of past stories.
Interactive Simulations If you want to experience the scientific process, this virtual lab is fantastic and it is free. It is part of the University of Colorado at Boulder website. The science simulations on this site cover topics such as: circuit construction, projectile motion, radio waves and more. Check it out and see for yourself.
FLINN scientific inc is an excellent source for all needs scientific. They sell experiment kits, science toys, and even some great electronics to use in the lab. Flinn also has many free sources of information such as: a downloadable MSDS book, experiments and activities to try, and safety training for teachers.
Educational Innovations is science toy central. When we set up our science and toys unit this is where we shopped. They carry magnets, lab materials, Einstein action figures, and even a Cat-A-Pult. It is so easy to make education fun with materials from this supplier.
