Welcome to the Exploreum Teacher Resource Center!
Our mission is to encourage excellence in science, technology, engineering, and math education (STEM), and to make the excitement of scientific discovery accessible to the gulf region. We will provide the knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts through innovative approaches including interactive hands-on play, exhibits and traveling exhibits, classes, workshops, demonstrations, lectures, and educational experiences as well as through the visual excitement of the J.L. Bedsole Theater. We combine the advantages of strong, focused and accountable management, with financial, technological and capital resources to achieve our mission.
Enhance the value of the Exploreum’s mission with a Best is Getting Better philosophy by continuously striving to encourage public awareness of the wonders of science, to contribute to science education and to promote and improve scientific literacy along the Gulf Coast region.
Schools / Student Groups
We welcome teachers to the Education area of the Exploreum website. Here, you will find in-depth information about the educational activities available when visiting the Exploreum, our upcoming special programs and events and a variety of resources for teachers to use in their classrooms. More than 55,000 school children visit the Exploreum each year, and we use each field trip as an opportunity to make science learning fun for students.
With our four permanent exhibits, our two science laboratories, the only IMAX DOME Theater on the Gulf Coast and our state-of-the-art Digital Theater, we know how to make science learning fun, interactive and educational. Home School Groups
The Exploreum is pleased to offer classes for Home School children. Registration for classes is on a first-come, first-serve basis and space is limited. Home School classes are offered once a month from September to May. Due to the high demand for Exploreum Home School Labs, registration and payment is required prior to attending class. Please call or email Haley Freeman for more information on homeschool programming at 1-251-208-6849 or email@example.com. You can also visit the Home School page for more information by clicking here.
Business / Industry
Education extends beyond the classroom. The Exploreum routinely collaborates with industry, business and the public sector. As the region continues to develop, so too, will the demand for a highly skilled workforce in the areas of science and technology. The Exploreum can partner with your organization to develop employee teaching and training tools, create science-based mentoring programs with area youth and demonstrate the “science” involved in your industry to show youth the real-world applications of science, math and technological learning.
At the Exploreum, we understand the value of science education and how important it is to foster the connection between education, business and industry. If your organization is interested in helping to develop a more science literate workforce, the Exploreum can be your link through its innovative and meaningful education programs. Please contact our education department at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
