AMSTI WORKSHOP INFORMATION
The Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center now offers four AMSTI workshops for science teachers, grades K – 12. Teachers will earn Professional Development Credits for participation in these free day-long workshops.
Please contact Don Comeaux for specific training dates and registration information:
Workshop: Engineering Explorer
This flagship middle through high school teacher workshop correlates with two of our 120-minute Exploration Workshops for students in grades 6 to 12. Through access to an individual laptop, teachers become engineers for the day and learn how to design a mechanical part using CAD (Computer Aided Design) software that connects to a 3-D printer. Then, be prepared to become ‘handy’ as you learn the physics and compete with other area teachers to build a catapult with GEARS rapid prototyping kits!
Workshop: Exploreum 101
Get back to the basics, elementary teachers! Fall in love with learning all over again, as you see how the Exploreum’s Education Department takes science topics and turns them into interactive demonstrations. The fun doesn’t stop with this workshop, as we put your inner child’s science knowledge and creativity to the test!
Workshop: Principles of Flight
Middle and high school teachers, prepare to let your imaginations take flight! Learn the basics of aeronautics and how your students will participate in the history of flight through interactive STEAM education in the correlating Principles of Flight Exploration Workshops for grades 6 to 12.
