Falconry & More with Mark Wetzel from Five Rivers

Falconry is the hunting of wild quarry in its natural state and habitat by means of a trained bird of prey. In modern falconry the red-tailed hawk is often used. Come meet Mark Wetzel as he discusses and demonstrates the art of Falconry.

Admission is free for Exploreum members and included in General Admission for non-members.

Mark is a graduate of Auburn University with B.S. in Wildlife Sciences coupled with a minor in psychology. While attending Auburn, he actively volunteered at the South Eastern Raptor Center for three years. Adding diversity, he completed his internship at Tigers for Tomorrow in Attalla, Alabama. After graduation, he became a Raptor Specialist for Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia for three years. During this time he began working on his falconry permit. Currently, he is classified as a general falconer. He is also employed by the State of Alabama as a Biologist Aide at 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center where his primary function is as an educator.
