Construction Junction
Ages 4 & 5

Campers will unleash their creativity when they plan, design, and construct objects to investigate how simple machines work. Kids love to build! Let them put their imagination into motion with this exciting hands on camp!
Nuts & Bolts
1st - 3rd graders

Journey into the exciting world of engineering. Campers will use the engineering design process to design and build models of simple objects using wood and real tools! Don’t miss this creative builder’s dream!
Monster Machine Shop
4th – 6th graders

This is not your prototypical summer camp! Campers will use everyday materials to design, build and test their own prototype models. They will put the best practices learned over the week to good use when they create their final monster model!
Robo World
6th – 12th graders

Experience engineering at its best by researching, prototyping, testing, and evaluating your very own robot! Campers will learn SolidWorks(R) 3D design software and experiment with a 3D printer in order to walk in the footsteps of master engineers. Campers will use industrial parts to construct heavy duty robots that will compete in a robot design challenge and competition. Campers start your robots!

Put your myth busting skills to the test! Campers will investigate famous myths and find out for themselves what’s fact and what’s fiction with the inventive experiments of this camp.

Exploreum Test Kitchen

Your camper will love to eat healthy after this yummy camp! Campers will make and test healthy snacks and learn why they are important for them. This camp will be kid tested and kid approved!
Sweet & Savory Summertime
1st - 3rd graders

Campers will cook up some exciting chemistry in our BioLab Kitchen in this exciting look at cooking. Learn about where food comes from, how it’s grown, and its nutritional value. If you like eating sweet and savory treats, than this camp is designed for you!
Iron Chef Exploreum!
4th – 6th graders

Campers will explore a surprise ingredient each day of camp in our BioLab Kitchen Stadium. Learn the origin of the ingredient, how to cook with it, and the science behind what makes it great. At the end of each day campers will meet in teams for a culinary showdown. Which team will earn the title of Iron Chef Exploreum?!
Exploreum Eats!
6th – 12th graders

Campers will explore the chemistry of their favorite culinary concoctions! “Mix pop culture, comedy and plain good eating” in a way that decodes the chemistry behind even the most complicated culinary customs. Perform chemistry you can eat!
CSI: Mobile

Campers will become crime scene experts as they process mock crime scenes and apply forensic techniques in order to solve cases all weeklong! They will study the science of forensics, chromatography, chemistry and fingerprint analysis.

3, 2, 1 lift off! Become an astronaut-in-training and discover how robots and astronauts explore other worlds. Ever wonder what’s beyond the moon or how astronauts eat ice cream in space? Dig deep into the awesome and extreme science of Earth. From weather to volcanoes, campers will explore the Earth’s wild and wacky science. This week’s forecast calls for fun and learning at the Exploreum!
Extreme Earth
1st - 3rd graders

Travel from pole to pole! From colossal heat to frigid cold, discover how extreme the Earth really is! Campers will investigate the four most extreme biomes; desert, ocean, arctic, and rainforest. Dig deep to uncover how plants and animals adapt to these extreme living conditions.
Storm Chasers
4th – 6th graders

Explore extreme weather, global warming, natural disasters, and the ocean’s role in maintaining the Earth’s temperature balance. Campers will discover what fuels volcanoes and earthquakes in this spectacular hands-on camp. Unravel the mysteries of our planet as you examine what makes the Earth shake and quake.

Radical Reptiles

Campers will take an in-depth look at the life of reptiles: snakes, lizards and turtles! Meet and touch live reptiles while comparing them to other animals. This camp is sure to be a favorite among animal lovers!
Science Sleuths
1st - 3rd graders

Put your detective skills to work! Campers will solve mock crimes and catch thieves red-handed. Sort through evidence and use deductive reasoning to apply the science of forensics and chemistry to solve some of the Exploreum’s most fantastic mysteries.
Jr. Detective
4th – 6th graders

Earn your Jr. Detective Certificate after solving several cases at the Exploreum! Learn to collect, process, and analyze fingerprints, shoe prints and other trace evidence at mock crime scenes. Become a crime scene investigator and close the case on some of the Exploreum’s most infamous bandits!
Reel Science
6th – 12th graders

Calling all future film directors! Art meets science in this creative camp. Tap into your creativity and use your imagination to develop your own film! Campers will investigate the science behind film-making: script writing, filming, editing, storyboard creation, and marketing. Have your final film product featured at the 2010 South Alabama Film Festival this fall!

Invention Convention

Science happens when you least expect it! Spend the week exploring some of the wonders of science through demonstrations and hands on activities. Test out different chemical reactions, design some cool inventions, and make some truly ooey gooey creations.
