Dinosaurs Downtown Roars to New Attendance Record Tuesday, Jan 19, 2010More than 4,000 visit Exploreum over three-day weekend to see new exhibit
Dinosaurs have invaded Downtown Mobile, and now, area residents are invading the Gulf Coast Exploreum to catch a glimpse at the 12 life-size, animatronic creatures in the outdoor courtyard. More than 4,000 patrons visited the Exploreum during the three-day weekend, making it the best exhibit opening in the nonprofit’s history.
“We had young children, teenagers, adults and seniors that were all awe-struck by this exhibit,” said Hela Sheth, director of marketing of public relations. “Dinosaurs Downtown has a cross-generational appeal, which positions it well for continued success.”
In addition to the successful opening weekend, school field trip time slots are almost completely filled through the end of February. Birthday parties, meanwhile, are quickly booking up for March and April. Teachers should call 251.208.6880 for field trip availability, and parents should call 251.208.6873 for birthday parties.
A thrilling, full-sensory exhibit, Dinosaurs Downtown has transformed the Exploreum’s courtyard into a Jurassic-era habitat with dinosaurs flying overhead, jungle foliage, watering holes and a waterfall. Guests are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance at Exploreum.com to reduce wait times in lines.
Admission prices for Dinosaurs Downtown and permanent exhibits are $14.00 for adults, $12.50 for youth and seniors and $12.00 for children. Combo tickets, which include a viewing of the Dinosaurs Alive IMAX film, are $18.00 for adults, $17.00 for youth and seniors and $15.50 for children.
