Bob the Builder™ - Project: Build It opens Oct. 17 at Gulf Coast Exploreum

Mobile, Ala. (Sept. 21, 2009) — Can we build it?™ Yes we can! The Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center is hosting the Bob the Builder™—Project: Build It traveling exhibit from Oct. 17, 2009 through Jan. 3, 2010. Sponsored locally by Heritage Homes, Lowe’s and Publix, this 2, 000 square foot exhibit replicates elements from Bob the Builder’s world, inspiring teamwork, inviting inspiration and bringing environmentally friendly building themes to life for children and their families.

“We expect this traveling exhibit to be a big hit with area families,” said Exploreum Assistant Director Caroline Etherton. “Children will have the opportunity to learn about problem solving and teamwork, while having fun with one of their favorite television characters.”

During the exhibit, which is sponsored nationally by Delta Faucet, inspired by HIT Entertainment’s top rated television series and produced by the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, children can spend time in Sunflower Valley with the Can-Do Crew, learning the importance of conservation and building and maintaining a home. Parents can also join in the fun, working with their children to build a vehicle shelter and experimenting with tools in Bob’s building workshop. In addition, children will be able to meet and greet Bob the Builder daily.

For a limited time, parents can celebrate their child’s birthday with a Heritage Homes Construction Party. Themes will be available for both boys and girls, and individuals should call 251.208.6879 to check for available dates. In addition, area Lowe’s Home Improvement stores will provide educational activities for adults through four “Do It Yourself” workshops.

Lastly, for a small fee, families may also sign up for the Little Builder Brunch, which is sponsored by Publix and scheduled for 11 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8. Publix will provide a delicious spread and children can meet and greet the Bob the Builder character in the exhibit hall. More information about birthday parties, workshops and the brunch are available at Exploreum.com.

In addition to visiting the Bob the Builder™—Project: Build It traveling exhibit, families can visit the J.L. Bedsole IMAX Dome Theatre to view the new IMAX film, Animalopolis, from Sept. 5th through Jan. 3rd. This film features 12 different animals performing hilarious acts, such as bears that waltz, lions that sing and more. Families will also have the option to view NASCAR: The IMAX Experience from Sept. 5th though Nov.25th. This IMAX film will put NASCAR fans in the driver's seat, as they experience America's favorite spectator sport.

Exploreum members can take full advantage of Bob the Builder™—Project: Build It as they will experience no additional charges to see the traveling exhibit. Family memberships are available for only $100, and they include unlimited visits to the Exploreum, FREE tickets for friends, discounts on IMAX films, gift shop purchases, camps, birthday parties and more.
