Programs are designed to help enhance your childs science adventure.
April 7-May 26 WHARF WORKSHOPS ABOUT WHARF WORKSHOPS Join us in the Wharf House every Wednesday for some action-packed EDU-TAINMENT, Exploreum style! Young children will get to participate in hands-on activities that teach them about the world around us in these fun and educational mini-workshops. Wharf Workshops are FREE with Exploreum admission! Each Wharf Workshop will be limited to 8 children due to the hands-on nature of these activities. There will be a different activity each week: April 7 - Wind Power Explore what causes wind and how we can use it to power our homes. Make your own windmill (pinwheel) to take home with you.
April 14 - Rainbows Learn what causes rainbows by using prisms/water/light. Learn the colors of the visible spectrum (rainbow) and take home a picture to help remember the day.
April 21 - Earth Day Come explore how to make Mother Earth a better place to live. Learn about recycling, landfills, and pollution. Take home seeds to start your herb garden. April 28 - Water Power Explore dams and how water can make electricity. Learn how powerful water can be.
May 5 - Mother’s Day Make a card/gift for mom to help her celebrate her special day
May 12 - Bubbles Discover how to make bubbles from water and soap. See how strong bubbles are and how much fun you can have.
May 19 - Bird Feeder Learn how to make your own bird feeder out of recycled plastic bottles. Explore the different types of birds we have in our area and how we can help them survive.
May 26 - Kitchen Chemistry Explore the various concoctions we can make by using some basic kitchen materials. Make your own play dough.
WHO Children ages 3-6 Wharf Workshops are limited to 8 children; booked on a first-come, first-serve basis WHAT Wednesday workshops will feature a different activity each week and have a different focus each month. WHEN Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. WHERE The Wharf House, located in the back of Hands on Hall at the Exploreum.
