Dinosaurs Around the World takes you back in time on a dinosaur adventure and a tour of an Earth very different from today – a time before the continents as we know them existed\, when lush landscapes covered Africa and greenery was the norm in Antarctica! With advanced animatronics\, a multi-layered narrative\, fossils\, authentic casts\, cutting-edge research and immersive design elements you’ll experience the Age of Reptiles as it comes to life!\n\n \n\nDinosaurs Around the World invites you to grab your prehistoric passport to Pangea and discover how plate tectonics\, land bridges\, and volcanic activity allowed dinosaurs to disperse to all corners of the globe\, giving each of the seven continents its own unique selection of these giant reptiles. During their 172 million year reign\, dinosaurs adapted into a variety of forms due to the conditions of the areas in which they lived.  The exhibition includes examples such as the mighty T. rex of North America\, the swift Velociraptor of the Gobi Desert\, the massive herbivore Amargasaurus form the tropical jungles of South America and ten others!\n\n \n\n“Dinosaurs Around the World will transport visitors back in time to the unrecognizable landscape of Pangea in a playful and educational way\,” said Tom Zaller\, President & CEO of Imagine Exhibitions. “I am proud of all that our team at Imagine Exhibitions has accomplished with our partners to achieve that goal.”\n\n \n\nIn addition to advanced animatronics\, Dinosaurs Around the World also features information about the geologic time scale\, geology\, geography\, and climatology. The exhibition poses questions to the visitor about the reign of the dinosaurs and helps them to discover how dinosaurs lived on each continent\, how they interacted with each other\, how geography impacted their behavior and diets\, and what the continents were really like at the time.\n\n \n\nDinosaurs Around The World is sponsored by Hargrove\, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama\, Mobile County District 2\, AMNS Calvert\, WKRG-5\, Spire\, Sweet Home Alabama\, and Delaney Foundation.\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n \n\n\n\nBirdly Trailer II from SOMNIACS on Vimeo.\n\nAdd on this unique experience to the Dinosaurs Around the World exhibit. Birdly is a fully immersive VR experience. “…the Birdly® experience is beautiful and extremely vivid. It is also the first one in which I felt like my whole body had been transported into the world I was in at that moment.” –Engadget\n\n \n\n\n\nJurassic Flight: A Certified Birdly VR Experience – Trailer from Giant Screen Films on Vimeo.

SUMMARY:Dinosaurs of Antarctica - Feature Movie
DESCRIPTION:Now playing on the Poarch Band of Creek Indians Digital Dome Theater for a limited time only!\nHidden Pacific and Dinosaurs Alive! run until Friday\, February 21\, 2020. \nDinosaurs of Antarctica\nFebruary 22\, 2020 – May 31\, 2020 \n \n  \n  \nDinosaurs of Antarctica tells the story of a changing environment at the bottom of the world. In ancient times\, dinosaurs and other creatures roamed freely in a lush landscape. Today\, the continent holds evidence of that world\, frozen beneath its ice and snow. As the climate changes again\, melting Antarctic ice is allowing scientists to discover the remains of the past—including the fossils of those distinctive dinosaurs. Viewers of all ages will enjoy meeting the newest dinosaurs\, like Cryolophosaurus\, and other creatures in the film—as well as the dedicated scientists who explore the warming continent to find them. \nFeature Film (Times subject to change based on special events\, groups\, and other factors. Please call ahead if you are looking for a specific showtime.) \nTuesday – Thursday: 10 am\, 11 am\, 1 pm\, 2pm\, 3 pm \nFriday & Saturday: 10 am\, 11 am\, 1 pm\, 2pm\, 3pm\, and 4 pm \nSunday: 1 pm\, 2pm\, 3pm\, and 4pm \n  \n \n  \n  \nRecent News: \nExploreum Science Center’s IMAX Dome Theater to Undergo Major Transformation\nMOBILE\, AL.– The Exploreum Science Center is proud to announce a groundbreaking new partnership with the Poarch Band of Creek Indians in the digital upgrade of its Dome Theater. Working with D3D\, a nationally recognized company based in Evanston\, Illinois\, the Exploreum will make a huge leap from its current state as a film-based theater into a digital laser-based Giant Screen Dome theater. \n“We are thrilled to partner with PCI and D3D on this massive upgrade”\, said Don Comeaux\, Executive Director of the Exploreum. “PCI’s investment will enable the Exploreum to show\, for the first time\, the latest digital giant screen films. And\, in the very near future\, we will be able to show commercial\, full-length feature films. We’ll be putting the viewers’ experience in overdrive with greater contrast\, clarity\, and visually stunning images that are superior to any previous technology. The theater will be an immersive experience unique to the Gulf Coast Region and beyond\, and we’re looking forward to this cutting-edge conversion.” \nIn addition to a drastically upgraded visual experience\, the theater will be getting a near top to bottom overhaul in other areas as well. A state-of-the-art sound system will be installed during the conversion process delivering enhanced audio equal to that of the new visuals. Upgraded seating and new flooring will be installed as well as an all new lighting system\, resulting in a nearly brand new theater. \nThis cutting edge technology will enable the Exploreum to greatly expand its various educational and professional programs. Live video conferencing\, dynamic and interactive presentations\, and streaming broadcasts from entities such as NASA as well as TED Talks will all be possible with the new configuration. \nPCI Chief Government Relations Officer Robbie McGhee remarked\, “The Tribe is deeply committed to furthering innovative educational opportunities for the entire community\, and we are proud to be part of this noble endeavor that helps make the wonders of science accessible to everyone.” \nD3D Cinema\, working in concert with Christie Digital Systems\, will be replacing the existing film projection system with a laser-illuminated system. It will feature ultra-high 6K resolution via a trio of advanced Christie laser projectors\, high frame rate capability (up to 120 fps)\, and outstanding contrast ratios. The state-of-the-art laser system is capable of delivering up to 150\,000 lumens on the dome producing incredibly vivid images with a brilliant expanded dynamic range and color gamut far beyond the capabilities of film-based and xenon-illuminated projection systems.  D3D will also upgrade the audio system with a dome-optimized surround-sound speaker array delivering 25\,000 watts of power for an incredibly lifelike and immersive aural experience\, capable of reproducing the clap of a sonic boom or the whisper of an evening breeze with equal fidelity. \n“The Exploreum Science Center has always enjoyed such great success with their Giant Dome Theater\, and we’re honored to have been selected to help them usher in the exciting new digital era in Mobile\,” said Don Kempf\, President of D3D Cinema.  “The product that Christie Dome solution and our team will be deploying there is undoubtedly the highest quality solution on the market\, and one that will be able to evolve as future new technologies emerge\, allowing the Exploreum to do what science museums do best – showcasing the most advanced technology in the world.” \nAbout the Poarch Band of Creek Indians \nThe Poarch Creek Indians are descendants of a segment of the original Creek Nation\, which once covered almost all of Alabama and Georgia. Unlike many eastern Indian tribes\, the Poarch Creeks were not removed from their tribal lands and have lived together for almost 200 years in and around the reservation in Poarch\, Alabama. The reservation is located eight miles northwest of Atmore\, Alabama in rural Escambia County\, and 57 miles east of Mobile. \nThe Poarch Band of Creek Indians is the only federally recognized Indian Tribe in the state of Alabama\, operating as a sovereign nation with its own system of government and bylaws. The Tribe operates a variety of economic enterprises\, which employ hundreds of area residents. The Poarch Band of Creek Indians is an active partner in the state of Alabama\, contributing to economic\, educational\, social and cultural projects benefiting both Tribal Members and residents of these local communities and neighboring towns. \nThe Tribe’s Planned Giving Campaign includes significant donations to local schools\, education scholarships\, senior centers\, youth athletics\, and charitable organizations.

SUMMARY:FEAR: The Science of Phobias
DESCRIPTION:  \nFear is back! That’s right! Our very own\, in-house exhibit\, Fear: The Science of Phobias is making it’s return to the Exploreum. On September 22 we kick things off and we have added a few elements to spice up your favorite spooky science experience! In addition to some new content we would like to introduce your “virtual guide” Dr. Cornelius P. Jitters! Join him as he helps guide you through his Chambers of Fear and become one of his volunteer test subjects to discover your deepest\, darkest fears. \nEveryone is afraid of something and we all have different thresholds for what frightens us. But\, no matter what it is that scares us\, there’s one thing we know for sure\, FEAR causes our bodies to react in extreme ways — hearts pound\, palms sweat\, muscles freeze and knees shake.\n\nFear: the Science of Phobias explores the science behind our greatest fears. Through hands-on opportunities\, an exciting array of science based programming and expanded content\, visitors will have the chance to face and maybe even conquer some of their greatest phobias…
