Exploreum Youth Paid Internship Program

Want to be part of an amazing team of educators and explore science every day?

Check out the Exploreum Science Center’s Youth Paid Internship Program.

This program is a great place for motivated teens to gain valuable pre-employment experience in a fun, educational setting. Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside Science Center staff, facilitating positive visitor experiences through an array of tasks and responsibilities as they learn about the world of informal education. Internships are available in education spaces, guest services and behind the scene roles where you will learn how the museum operates and gain valuable skills through your work. Successfully completing the internship can lead to an opportunity to extend the internship throughout the school year, and would also be a great item for resumes and college applications.

Eligibility: Applicants must be between the ages of 14-17 and currently enrolled in a High School or equivalent program.

All internship applicants are required to submit a resume, cover letter and two teacher recommendations. Email all application materials to twebb@exploreum.com by May 2, 2022. In the subject line, please include the position in which you are applying for.

Summer training is May 31, 2022 – June 3, 2022

Work begins June 6, 2022 and ends August 6, 2022

“It is a pleasure to be associated with the Exploreum Science Center in a volunteer capacity. The staff and administration, exhibits and facility are first rate, and the atmosphere is always upbeat and dynamic. There is a great deal of personal satisfaction in helping guests explore and learn as they go through the Exploreum’s exhibits. I certainly appreciate the opportunity to be involved in such a wonderful enterprise.”

“I have enjoyed my volunteer experience with the Exploreum since I began working with the Nicholas and Alexandra exhibit. At that time, I was still a full-time teacher and now that I’ve retired I find that helping students (as well as adults) keeps me “teaching” outside the classroom and I love it!”

Margaret Davis Martin

“I’ve enjoyed volunteering at the Exploreum because the work environment was enriching, the co-workers were very friendly and hours were adapted to fit my needs. It was an all-around an enjoyable experience.”
